A Houstonian architect couple hired Morpholab to assist with the design, documentation, bidding and permitting of their dream vacation beach house in the Indian Beach Community, located in the Island of Galveston, Texas.

By compiling the design ideas, expectations and budget of the client and closely adapting them to the stringent guidelines of the Federal Emergency Management Agency - FEMA (Coastal Construction Manual) and the regulations and directives of the Community Architectural Control Committee, we designed and documented a 3,761 square foot, 3-bedroom, 3-story house elevated on 16 feet tall lumber pilings and distributed as follows:

First Floor: open plan equipped with a parking area, a trash enclosure, a shower and an exterior staircase leading to the Second Floor.

Second Floor: living area with entry porch, vestibule/foyer, living room, dining room, kitchen, balcony, bathroom and bedroom.

Third Floor: living area with master bedroom, secondary bedroom, master bathroom with walking closet, secondary bathroom, laundry room and balcony.

The large balconies on the second and third floors take advantage of the view over the Golf of Mexico and the open concept help spread the daylight throughout the floor plan.
